Continued Exam Success at President Kennedy School
President Kennedy School has enjoyed yet another year of excellent A level and GCSE examination results. The school's GCSE results remain well above average levels achieved nationally and across Coventry. 66% of students achieved the important measure 5A*-C including English and maths (compared to 54% across the city and 56% nationally) which provides students access into the next stage of their education or training. 98% of our students secured at least 5 GCSEs graded A*-G. This is an excellent achievement considering the recent changes to the curriculum which have made these exams more challenging.
On average, in each subject, President Kennedy School students have achieved approximately one grade higher than would be expected nationally. Students have performed well across the board, but we have seen a particularly impressive performance by our high attaining students. In English, almost all students secured a grade A*-C and 32% secured a grade A* or A compared to a national average of 15%. In maths, 22% secured a grade A* or A compared to a national average of 16%. We expect that these pleasing results place President Kennedy School yet again in the top 1% for academic progress between year 7 and GCSE nationally and the majority of all year 11 students will progress to President Kennedy School’s Post 16 to study A levels.
The school is also celebrating an outstanding set of A level examination results. The percentage of students achieving A*-B grades at A2 is an outstanding 42%. Given the strength of these results, all our students who applied to join Higher Education courses succeeded in securing an offer, and the vast majority secured their first choice place. Our highest ever percentage of students secured places at top ‘Russell Group’ universities including Teddy Mack who was successful in securing a place at Cambridge University. Students who have not chosen to go on to Higher Education have gained places on high quality apprenticeships or positions in employment.
