Barr's Hill School Celebrate Their Best Ever Exam Results

This summer, Barr’s Hill School secured its best ever GCSE results, making us one of the most improved schools in Coventry.  In a year where national GCSE grades dipped, the school’s results improved. 52% of students achieved an A*- C grade in English and Maths.  16% of students in English and in Maths achieved the very highest grades (A*A) at GCSE.

In English, 8 out of every 10 students made at least the progress they were supposed to make between age 11 and age 16, and over half of our students achieved one grade higher than they were expected to between age 11 and 16, well above national average.

At Barr’s Hill School, students whose first language isn’t English make just as much progress, achieving a C or better in English and Maths, as those whose first language is English.

At A level, the number of students at Barr’s Hill School’s Sixth Form achieving A*-A grades doubled in 2016. Almost 30% of students achieved A*, A or B grades at A level.

Barr’s Hill A level pass rate in 2016 was again better than the national average at 95%.

In the vocational subjects, those students achieving a merit or better (equivalent to B grade at A level) was an impressive 82%. 100% of students in Media and in Performing Arts achieved the very highest grade, equivalent to an A or A* at A level.

In 2016, all Barr’s Hill’s students achieved their first choice university places and others have started high quality apprenticeships or have taken their place in the world of work.
